Privacy Policy
Effective September 13, 2026
Home Bartender ("the app," "we") is operated by Marwan Alamat. This policy describes what information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect only what the app needs to work, we don't run ads, we don't use third-party analytics or tracking, and we never sell your data.
Information we collect
- Account information. Your email address and a display name you choose. If you sign in with Apple, we receive the identifier (and, if you share it, name and email) Apple provides. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider (Supabase) and are never visible to us in plain text.
- Content you create. Recipes, bar inventory, menus, shopping lists, and your MixMaster chat conversations.
- Photos you submit. Photos you take or choose for ingredient scanning are uploaded for analysis. We do not access your photo library beyond the images you explicitly select.
- Recipe imports. You can submit supported Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest links. Instagram and TikTok posts are retrieved through Apify or HikerAPI, as appropriate for the platform. For Pinterest, our server retrieves the Pin, its available images and linked recipe websites. Retrieved text, images, audio and sampled video frames may be sent to OpenAI to extract recipes after your consent. Temporary source media is removed after processing; saved recipes keep their source links and available creator or publisher attribution.
- Guest interactions. When you share a menu link or QR code, guests can view it without an account. A guest who places an order or rating provides a first name, which is stored with your menu. Shared menu pages are accessible to anyone who has the link.
- Purchase status. Whether you have an active subscription, via Apple and RevenueCat. We never see your payment card details.
- Feature usage counters. Counts such as AI scans used and trial dates, needed to apply plan limits.
- Recipe sharing counts. We count share-link requests and visits to shared recipe pages to understand feature use. These counts do not identify recipients; we do not store their IP addresses or browser details with these counts.
- Website community form. A beta signup uses your email address only to deliver a fixed TestFlight invitation through Resend. A feature suggestion or feedback submission sends the contact details and message you provide to our support inbox so we can review it or reply.
We do not collect advertising identifiers, precise location, contacts, or browsing history, and the app contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
How we use information
- To provide the service: syncing your recipes, bars, and menus across devices and serving your shared guest menus.
- To power AI features: photos you scan and text you submit are sent to OpenAI's API to identify ingredients, suggest recipes, and answer MixMaster questions. Per OpenAI's API terms, this data is not used to train their models.
- To manage subscriptions, trials, and plan limits.
- To respond when you contact support.
- To deliver a beta invitation and to review feature suggestions and community feedback.
AI consent and public-source recipes
Before sending your content to OpenAI, the app asks for your permission. You can withdraw that permission in More → AI & privacy.
Public-source recipe reuse. To avoid processing the same public recipe repeatedly, we may retain and reuse eligible recipe extractions and matching AI-generated images from verified public sources. Reusable results keep recipe fields and source attribution, with raw captions and temporary source media excluded. Personal edits, private uploads, pasted captions and account details are excluded from this shared collection. Saving a recipe creates your own independent copy; another person's edits do not change it. Public-source results can remain available for reuse until they are replaced or removed.
Service providers
Your data is processed by the following providers, each only to run the app:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and image storage.
- Railway — application server hosting.
- OpenAI — AI processing of scans, imported recipes, recipe generation, and chat.
- Apify — retrieval of supported social posts you choose to import.
- HikerAPI — retrieval of Instagram posts you choose to import.
- RevenueCat — subscription status management.
- Apple — App Store payments and Sign in with Apple.
- Resend — delivery of beta invitations to the submitted email address and website support or community messages to our support inbox.
AI-generated drink and ingredient images are stored in a public storage bucket so they can display on shared menus; they contain no personal information. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising.
Data retention and deletion
Your data is kept while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time in the app under More → Delete account — this removes your recipes, bars, menus, chats, photos, and guest activity. You can also email us at support@homebartender.app to request deletion or a copy of your data.
Messages you send to support or submit as feature suggestions or feedback through the website community form are retained in our support mailbox separately from your app account, so account deletion does not automatically remove them. A beta signup sends a fixed invitation and does not add a message to that mailbox. Email us to request deletion of a support message.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and protected by industry-standard access controls. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we limit what we collect so there is less at risk.
Children
The app is not directed at children and is rated for adult audiences on the App Store. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update this page and its effective date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
